John Anderson

An architect in private practice in Auckland, New Zealand, John explored Rome and the Lazio region over several years while practicing as an architect in Rome working on architectural and hard landscaping projects throughout the region. Also a graduate in botany and geography he has an ongoing interest in plants, the environment and landscape architecture.

 

Andrea Bassan

An Italian architect in private practice in Rome, Andrea is an inveterate traveler both in Italy and abroad. Fluent in English, he combines a broad knowledge of Italian architecture and archaeology with a nose for places of special interest and character. He is currently engaged in a survey of, decorated catacombs in Rome for a doctoral dissertation.

Stefano Cannata

An Italian biologist teaching at the University Tor Vergata in Rome, Stefano is also an able gastronome. He has overseen the selection of the best local restaurants and trattoria, and will prepare the occasional picnic lunch and a traditional Lazio meal during the tour.

Carla Fresia

An Italian residing in Rome, Carla is a graduate in Chinese and English. She is an experienced tour hostess, who will be confirming daily schedules and bookings and will be on hand to help with any practical queries you may have. John and Andrea are your principal guides. They will give background talks on the daily highlights and specific talks on local art, architecture archaeology and history.

Maria Fresia

Originally from Rome, Maria, one of six sisters living in Italy, New Zealand and Portugal, teaches Italian language in Christchurch, New Zealand. She is the on-tour manager on hand to assist with any practical queries you may have and to confirm daily schedules, bookings and meals.
